The amazing, legendary, blues guitar wonder Stevie Ray Vaughan died 17 years ago today.

Dallas lost one of her favorite sons and has yet to find anyone that comes close to comparing with him.

The hometown boy that learned to play slide with a Cheez Whiz bottle went on to greatness as a solo artist after delivering amazing guitar work on such legendary albums as David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance”.

You are always in our hearts Stevie…

Those of us in the biking community have lost one of our favorites.

Don Ashton, Area District Manager for Firestone, was killed early Saturday morning en route home from the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

Early reports are Don was a passenger in the Hummer and William Helton (another Firestone member) was driving and Don’s wife, Kelly was also a passenger. The Hummer was hit so hard by a Camaro that is rolled and Don was thrown out of the vehicle (he was wearing a seat belt) and died instantly. Kelly has extensive injuries with a back broken in 3 places and possible paralysis below the waist and Will suffered multiple broken bones.

Firestone management has been on the scene to facilitate the care and transport of their “family” back home to Dallas. There is no word yet on a funeral/memorial service.

For those in the Dallas area motorcycle / automotive scene, keep checking this post as updates will be made available as they arrive.
