7 years ago at this time, we were all beginning to hear the news about the World Trade Center and Pentagon.

It’s time to put out the American flag in remembrance of those lost souls.

With the airlines - including Dallas based American - scaling back on their services, it’s disturbing to see that a skit from the Carol Burnett show so many years ago could be so poignant today.

Rest in Peace Harvey Korman.

I freely admit that I have never been a Clinton fan - either of him or her.

But I will admit that Hillary’s actions today in Dallas were very well handled.

Upon leaving a rally in the Oak Cliff area, Clinton’s motorcade was departing for Ft Worth when Senior Cpl. Victor Lozada, a 20-year veteran of the Dallas Police Department was thrown from his bike.

Hillary wanted to stop but her people kept the car moving so that emergency vehicles wouldn’t be hampered. Upon arriving in FW, Hillary announced to her fans that she could not go on with the rally and instead returned to Dallas to offer her condolences to the family.

Our sympathies are with the friends and family of Sr. Cpl Lozada.

The Texas Department of Transportation has unveiled a new program that allows for markers to be erected for victims killed by DWI/DUI drivers.

The markers would be placed as near to the crash site as possible and left up for 1 year. After the initial year, the sign will be offered to the person(s) that requested and paid for the sign.

The signs have a blue background with white lettering and specify the victims name and date of death. Full details are available at this Memorial Sign Program site.

Former Dallas Cowboys player, Dick Nolan, has passed away at the age of 75. He was coach of the San Francisco 49′ers, and father of current 49′ers coach Mike Nolan.

Dick Nolan also coached the New Orleans Saints and assisted the incomparable Tom Landry in coaching the Dallas Cowboys.

After several months in an assisted living center in Grapevine, Coach Nolan passed away Sunday evening.

He is survived by his wife and six children. Funeral arrangements are pending.

Manuel Trevino of Garland was on his way home to his 1 and 13-year old daughters last night when an intoxicated idiot by the name of Felipe Escobedo ran into him in his Chevy S10 pickup.

Authorities say that Mr. Trevino, who was wearing a helmet, may have survived the impact; however, Escobedo backed up and ran over Trevino again in an effort to dislodge him from the undercarriage of his truck.

Thankfully, one Good Samaritan left her car to try to assist Mr. Trevino while other Samaritans chased down the drunk and boxed in his truck with their vehicles until the police could arrest him.

Our prayers go out to the family of Mr. Trevino, sincere thanks to the Good Samaritans who took the initiative to do the right thing and we sincerely hope that the Dallas DA’s office locks up the drunk for a very long and harsh sentence.

Jeffrey Carter Albrecht’s funeral will take place this Friday at 2p at the Parkway Hills Baptist Church in Plano.

His family has stated that the public is welcome to attend.

Albrecht was killed when he tried to break in a neighbor’s door after a night of drinking which culminated in him beating his girlfriend.

Albrecht is best known as the keyboardist for Dallas band Edie Brickell & the New Bohemians.
