Mimi the Golden Retriever Needs Your Help
Tuesday
Mar 25, 2008
Operation Kindness has done an amazing job with Mimi, the 13-year old Golden Retriever that survived a house fire that killed her owner.
Though she is permanently scarred, the doctors that operated on her did their work well and she’s maintained her sense of smell and retains a healthy appetite.
Any donations towards her $3,000+ medical bills would be highly appreciated - they are tax-deductible. And, she will be up for adoption in about 2 weeks.
Dog Lovers Should Check Out Dogster

If you are silly about your dog - and gauging by the number of pet boutiques in Dallas, that’s a high number of people - then you need to check out the site Dogster.
You can meet owners of other pure breed’s and find out more about canine activities going on in the area.
Even though Dogster is a whimsical site, I saw an example a couple days ago of how it may very well have saved a dog’s life. My dog, Harley Amadeus (pictured below), was invited to be part of a group on Dogster called Deutsch Pinscher Living Room and it’s group of people that own Doberman’s.
A lady in Connecticut posted about needing to find a Doberman rescue group due to a Dobie that was chained up outside with no shelter in 24 degree temperatures. Obviously the dog also had no fresh water as it was frozen solid. When the lady couldn’t find a local rescue group, I replied that she should immediately start contacting the SPCA, local media of all types and hitting geographic specific blogs to start raising a fuss.
Someone in California replied with a link listing all the media in that area of Connecticut.
Suffice to say that a lot of people in Connecticut started getting hammered by emails and phone calls from Dobie owners all over the US raising a ruckus over this abused dog. That dog is now in a SAFE location, warm and fed thanks to the dramatic outpouring from across the nation!
The internet sometimes is a very kewl thing and we can actively help situations hundreds of miles away. Get involved with Dogster - it’s free - and get your dog listed! It’s also a good place to find dogs that are needing new homes.
