Traveling Man Is Complete

Tuesday
Sep 1, 2009

Author: Raine Devries, Category: Arts, Deep Ellum

If you live or work in the downtown or Deep Ellum areas, you can’t help but have noticed three interesting sculptures that have been built over the past couple months.

REEL FX has commission artist Brad Oldham to built the Traveling Man exhibit and three parts:

Walking Tall: Standing at a robust 38′ tall, he’s striding confidently towards the DART Green Line station for Deep Ellum.

Waiting On A Train: He is sitting on a bench strumming a guitar.

Awakening: Only his 8′ head as it is emerging from beneath the surface is visible.

All three sculptures are surrounded by birds which are cast stainless steel and polished to a mirror finish. All sites are xeriscaped with crushed rock and stained concrete.
