Thank You Good Samaritans

This is a personal commentary:
Yesterday, 26-year-old Nicholas Cleborne was riding his motorcycle on Central Expressway.
An idiot by the name of Chet Wallace (33), clipped Nicholas on his bike and proceeded to drag him approximately 600 feet before running over him.
Nicholas is currently in Baylor’s ICU with several broken ribs, a collapsed lung and other injuries.
Wallace exited on Mockingbird and at a high rate of speed started making his way towards Stonewall Jackson Elementary (Matilda @ Mockingbird). He finally crashed into a tree and then took off running on foot.
And a big THANK YOU to the Good Samaritans that chased down the suspect themselves. Richard Fenn heard the commotion as he saw Wallace run by. Fenn then began pursuing him as well and wrangled him to the ground. A garden hose was found and Wallace was promptly hog-tied until police arrived.
Wallace admitted at the scene that he was trashed and has already bonded out of jail. He has been charged with intoxication assault with a vehicle.
I sincerely hope that all of us in the Dallas biking community keep up with this case and keep it in front of the media. The reason it is vital that we do this is because Texas is the 2nd largest motorcycle owner’s market and DFW is the 6th largest metropolitan market.
Far too often those of us on the bikes are having to dodge drivers that are in their cars with their windows up, AC and radio’s on and usually yapping on a cell phone. They are so busy multi-tasking that they are oblivious to those around them. Car drivers have got to become more aware of bikers and give us respect on the road as well.
I wish Nicholas a speedy recovery and to Wallace I wish a very expensive fine and a decent amount of jail time.

Three cheers to the good samaritans, including Mr. Fenn. My son goes to Stonewall Jackson, and it infuriates me that this clown decided to get drunk and get behind the wheel. Not only did he cause harm to Nicholas, but he put in danger the lives of so many little kids and their parents who were around the school at that time.
I really hope this aspect of it is also taken into consideration when he goes to trial. (Wreckless endangerment?) I’m sure the rest of the parents at Stonewall would agree.
Here’s to a speedy recovery for Nicholas. You are in our thoughts.

I would just like to say the media makes things alot worse than they really are, so just keep that in mind people, and as long as Mr.Cleborne dosent die I think Mr. wallace will be just fine.
