It’s a funky economy - but - it was like this also when Bubba Clinton was about to leave office with the economy. The good thing, is that if you aren’t overextended and with all the home sales slowing to a crawl, you can easily get into a new home for a fraction of the price that it was a couple years ago.

A big thing for First Time Home Buyers is just understanding what they are looking for in terms of features, warranties and financing.

Another issue when buying a house that is a New Home Construction is where is it in the build process - if it’s still before the finish out stage you can probably select your own wallpaper, flooring and fixtures.

So if you are in the market for Buying a Home, check out a site like NewHomeGuide.com and do your homework!

Motorcycle Repairs Near Downtown Dallas

This may seem like a silly post but, the reality, is that there are precious few places to take one’s bike for repair near the city center. Typically, everything is outside of the LBJ loop.

For some people, they love doing their own repair work and will whip out the Oil Filter Wrench, some oil and other staples and away they go. For those of you that fancy doing the work yourself, you can get the necessary tools for the job at SJ Discount Tools.com. And I do envy those of you that can do this as I don’t even like to put air in my tires for fear of over inflating them!

For those of us that are not mechanically inclined, thankfully, Motopia is fixing that as the ever wonderful Jason is focusing his efforts on running their service department.

I must mention that the service department at Motopia is one of the most posh and pristine places I’ve ever seen. It’s nice to be able to come in from the heat, get something to drink and have your bike worked on as you observe through the viewing area, or simply watch the latest Moto GP on the big screen.

So, if you are in the downtown area, whether you are a DIY or not, you now have two good solutions for getting the job done!

These are the latest on Dallas celebrity sightings:

Former Dallas residents Dr. Phil McGraw & wife Robin were dining with their son Jay and his wife Erica Dahm dining at Al Biernat’s. Erica was in Playboy with her sisters Jaclyn & Nicole (they’re triplets). They were dining at Al Biernat’s.

Meanwhile, former Dallas Cowboys quarterback & current FOX sportscaster, Troy Aikman called in an order that chef Weinstein hand delivered personally.

A few blocks away, Cyndi Lauper was ensconced in the Elvis Presley suite at the Stoneleigh Hotel where her entourage was celebrating her 55th birthday.

Tickets for the King Tut exhibit opening this fall at the Dallas Museum of Art went on sale Tuesday via the Ticketmaster website. You can purchase tickets by clicking on this link.

The exhibit, “Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs,” is making an encore visit to the United States after a two-year tour that drew nearly 4 million visitors ended in September 2007.

The exhibit, currently in London, will open at the Dallas Museum of Art on Oct. 3. It will run there through May 17, 2009, and then travel to two yet-to-be-named cities.

There will be more than 130 artifacts from the tomb of Egypt’s King Tut, including some artifacts that are new to the exhibit and have not been seen before outside of Egypt, the Dallas Museum of Art said in a news release.

In Dallas, a photography exhibit of prints from Harry Burton, the photographer who accompanied Howard Carter on the King Tut expedition, will be on display as well.

For adults, tickets range from $27.50 on weekdays to $32.50 Friday through Sunday and on holidays. For children, tickets are $16.50.

Yet another Dallas talent can be found in the catchy lyrics of Robbie Van Winkle a.k.a. Vanilla Ice.

Ice used to be valet at 2826 back in it’s hey-day and this video was shot in Deep Ellum. Granted the riff was snagged from David Bowie & Queen’s “Under Pressure” and lawsuits ensured, but the song is still devilishly popular in certain segments.
