Beginning tomorrow, Friday, February 29, the North Texas Irish Festival will be having their 26th annual blowout at historic Fair Park.

I’ve been watching the set up since Monday and it’s really amazing what their volunteers can pull together.

They expect 50,000 attendees to this event and if the forecast holds true, they should definitely be able to pull in that number!

The gates open tomorrow nite at 6p and entrance is free until 7p….after that, you have to pay! The festivities continue all day Saturday and Sunday.

And be forewarned! It seems that Hilary and Bill Clinton will be holding court at 1p on Saturday in the Coliseum on the park grounds so make sure to get there early so you don’t have to fight for parking.

Tomorrow is Last Day for Early Voting

This post is part information because of early voting this week and part “fired up” commentary for Lane who is the closest thing I’ve ever had to a brother.

It’s coming down to the wire for the Democratic contenders for the White House. Get your voice heard by voting in the early primaries…you have until this Friday, February 29 at 7pm to cast your vote at one of these locations.

As a personal commentary, even though Obama is getting so much hype and he has the liberal press so ga ga over his powerful, yet plagiarized, speeches, I have dubbed him “Cotton Candy“.

Oh yes…Cotton Candy is tempting and it’s nice to have a taste of it but my God do you honestly want to have it every day for 4 years?! Cotton Candy is light, fluffy and absolutely no substance.

Alas, if only Donald Duck were running and then I’d feel like I had someone to vote for this November….

Gimme Shelter tonite at Inwood Theater

The midnight screening tonite is the classic Rolling Stones film “Gimme Shelter“.

This rockumentary covers the 1969 concert at Altamont Speedway outside of San Francisco where Mick and the boys headlined after gigs by such bands as Jefferson Airplane.

During the song Sympathy for the Devil, a Hells Angels member killed a concert attendee and it was caught on tape. The Angels were working security for the event.

If you’ve never seen this film, it’s definitely worth the price of admission - especially to witness it on the big screen. Also, you’ll be surprised at how Keith Richards looked during his pretty boy hey day.

Hillary Clinton Shows Grace Under Fire

I freely admit that I have never been a Clinton fan - either of him or her.

But I will admit that Hillary’s actions today in Dallas were very well handled.

Upon leaving a rally in the Oak Cliff area, Clinton’s motorcade was departing for Ft Worth when Senior Cpl. Victor Lozada, a 20-year veteran of the Dallas Police Department was thrown from his bike.

Hillary wanted to stop but her people kept the car moving so that emergency vehicles wouldn’t be hampered. Upon arriving in FW, Hillary announced to her fans that she could not go on with the rally and instead returned to Dallas to offer her condolences to the family.

Our sympathies are with the friends and family of Sr. Cpl Lozada.
