Review: Happy Two Helpers Moving

Wow! I am impressed with Happy Two Helpers Moving.

After getting royally shafted by AB Moving during a June move when 3 movers showed up and only one spoke broken English, they took payment in cash, $75 of which was to cover insurance to move a few boxes (they marked it on my receipt “$75 ins”), the owner Kenny Baker claimed I hadn’t paid the insurance and must have altered my receipt and has been challenging to work with because he won’t provide the general liability insurance due to his guys damaging a valuable sculpture of mine.

Kenny contacted me a few days ago asking if I would delete the negative feedback I’d left on various sites about AB Moving and if I promised to never post again, he would provide the insurance info. I declined to play his game and am continuing with other options.

So, today I had scheduled Happy Two Helpers to move a few items. Jason and his partner were as nice as could be, really efficient and not once did I worry about them damaging my things. Oh yes, they speak English!

Very affordable…they do have a 2-hour minimum and though I knew my things would take less than an hour, it was still affordable and they were easy to work with.

Definitely check them out!

Wow what a fantastic season! Despite the game on Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys are dominating the NFC Pro Bowl team lineup.

With 7 offensive players including Tony Romo, Terrell Owens, Jason Witten, Flozell Adams, Andre Gurode, Marion Barber, Leonard Davis and defense being stocked with Terence Newman, DeMarcus Ware, Ken Hamlin and Kicker Nick Folk, it will be a stellar field.

Additionally, the Boys will have four alternates including Greg Ellis, Keith Davis, Roy Williams and Mat McBriar.

Effective right now, Clear Channel has decided to resurrect 97.1 KEGL “The Eagle”.

No more Christmas tunes…no more latin tunes…no more quasi new pop….just the decision to go head to head with The Bone it sounds like!

The Canadian firm, Research in Motion which is the manufacturer of the popular BlackBerry, has announced today that Irving will be the home of their U.S. Headquarters.

RIM expects to add up to 1,000 jobs to the region within the next few years and the company expressed delight that the Dallas area was very pro-business and had a talented labor pool which it could pull from.

The hiring process will begin immediately and the Irving operation will focus on business administration, technical support and research.

This should be welcome news for a lot of people that were let go as part of Nokia downsizing operations in the area from their Irving location.

What Happened to The Boys?

I think the collective agreement around the city is that Dallas Cowboys Tony Romo has got to nix having celebrity girlfriends in the stands…especially when he plays the Eagles and especially in December.

Last December he had a lousy game when then girlfriend Carrie Underwood cheered him on.

Yesterday, same team, same venue, same disastrous results with hometown girl Jessica Simpson cheering from a luxury box.

With a 10-6 loss it was just pathetic — what happened to the team that had been playing all season?!

The next match up will be against Carolina on their turn this weekend.

Get Your Motors Running

Sunday looks to be sunny and an absolutely balmy 55 degrees!

So for those of you with motorcycles, get your ride pimped up for The 22nd Annual Big Texas Toy Run. (Personally, I don’t want to hear any whining about it being too cold. A few years back it was sunny at 27 degrees and we still made the ride!) This is for a good cause! Plus, where else but Texas would you have what is considered to be the world’s largest toy run with approximately 65,000 bikers?!

For those of us in the chosen land (Dallas), the staging will take place in the south parking lot of Reunion Arena.

From Ft. Worth your staging is 3rd & Houston Street.

From Grapevine your staging is Hanover Drive.

Check in will be 10a - 12p. Ride typically departs at 1p. Entry fee is at least one unwrapped new toy or $10 cash. Ride pins & T’s will be available for purchase but they usually sell out well before noon so get there early.

I can’t speak for the other starting points, but Dallas is very well organized with the Dallas Police Department stopping all traffic to help approximately 35,000 bikers get onto I-30 (yes, 30 will be blocked) and we will travel to the Arlington Convention Center to drop off the toys.

I’m delighted that my adorable friend Tigger (yes, the same Tigger of Tigger’s Tattoos in Deep Ellum) is the head honcho of this event and he called the other day to ask me to ride at the front with him. So naturally, Magoo will be along, and the boyfriend should be as well and Derrick (Rob Zombie Jr) has to work the KZPS-mobile but he’s twisting arms to see if he can ride his own bike instead of drive the swag wagon.

If you don’t ride, find yourself a location along the route to watch the fun. You’ll be amongst several hundred of your closest friends pulled off onto the shoulders and waving from the overpasses.

Let’s get out there and have some fun and gather lots of toys for the kids most needing of a smile on Christmas morning!
